Here is the Princess Cruises Sun Princess ship waiting to head to Alaska here in Vancouver. However, this is not a normal Vancouver – Alaska cruise.
The Sun Princess is the sister of the Dawn Princess and the Sea Princess. It was built in 1995.
The most critical fact you need to know is that it was the setting for the 1998 TV show Love Boat: The Next Wave starring the incomperable Robert Urich.
At 77,000 tonnes and 857 feet it is not the largest Princess ship (anymore).
The Sun Princess is permanently based in Australia, sailing out of Sydney in the winter and Melbourne in the summer.
You might ask what an Australian based ship is doing in Vancouver?
It’s in the middle of a 75 night “Grand Pacific World Cruise”. Among other stops, it goes from Sydney to Hawaii, to San Francisco, then Victoria and Vancouver, then up to Alaska, then over to Japan, China, Vietnam, down to Singapore, and then finally back to Sydney.
